Drawing for Those Who Can't Draw

If you can’t draw a straight line, or can’t even draw stick figures....but always wanted to learn more...this class is for you! In a non-threatening environment, you will learn some simple tricks to get the basics of drawing from observation. This class employs exercises to help you work with your fears of drawing on the blank page and how to control the pen or pencil. This class is a great way to learn how to reduce objects to basic lines and shapes and get beyond the intimidation of drawing from real life. Bring a pencil and sketchbook to the first class.

Holiday Arrangements

Come celebrate the holidays and create a living arrangement with holiday greens! Start a new tradition with friends and family! Discover the art of creating a gorgeous, long-lasting arrangement. Learn all about different types of greens and find out how to cut them! Decorate with red berries, pine cones, holiday decorations and ribbons. Don’t forget to wear your Santa hats and reindeer antlers! Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring some of your own. Festive music and snacks will be provided.

Independent Watercolor Projects

Are you an experienced painter looking for a little guidance here and there? Then this is the course for you! This course is for someone who has dabbled in watercolor (perhaps by taking the previous two classes listed here) and is looking for the space, time and a little instruction to advance their skills! Students choose their subjects and projects, and will range from painting fromlife and/or photographs. Please supply your own materials.

Landscape Elements in Watercolor

Continue exploring watercolor techniques in this intermediate level class! Discover new ways to create trees, skies, clouds, foliage, rocks and other landscape elements. During the course, students will complete a landscape painting from a photograph, if desired. Students will review material needs during the firs tclass. Please supply your own materials. A list of basic, inexpensive materials is available on the website.

Printmaking

Discover the fun in printmaking! This course is designed for the beginner printmaker (little to no experience necessary), and will focus on mono-printing and relief printing. Learn about the history and processes of printmaking, ranging from intaglio to block printing. We will use hands-on materials such as styrofoam plates, gelli blocks, and EZ-Cut material to create our own monoprints and relief prints. We will explore colors, patterns, and textures in our prints and make multiples. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover your inner artist! Materials included.
