Our Classes

Early A.M. Interval Training

Are you stuck in a workout rut? Studies show that getting in a workout first thing in the morning is the path to being more productive, creative and healthy. Join this interval training class to start your day right. Each class is designed to improve your flexibility, strength, cardiovascular fitness and balance. Exercises will vary from class to class so you won't get bored with your workout. Participants will learn a variety of exercises that can be done with little or no equipment necessary. All fitness levels welcome. This class will be held outside, weather permitting. Participants should bring a water bottle and a mat or beach towel to class.

Field Guides: Nature Illustration

Discover the beauty in nature by painting with acrylic ink! Illustrate your favorite found objects: feathers, flowers, leaves, and shells. Learn about 18th century field guides and the work of John James Audubon. Develop your skills as an artist by painting with acrylic ink, a fluid archival medium similar to watercolor. Materials are included; feel free to bring your own natural objects.

Start celebrating Cinco de Mayo early with Chris Toy - there’s no need to wait! Discover the joys of combining Maine seafood with the flavors of Mexico! Savor the flavors of handmade tortillas, fish tacos, and three easy margaritas from scratch (Virgin and Hi-Test included!). Make this your best Cinco de Mayo! Please note: this class will be held at Freeport Community Services. Bring containers for leftovers. Food fee included.

Join UMaine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener, Joel Leak, as introduces you to the world of fruit trees! he provides basic information on how to grow tree fruit (including apples, pears, peaches, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and plums). Learn how to grow tree fruit (including apples, pears, peaches, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and plums), about site selection, varieties, planting, pollination, insect pests, diseases and pruning.

Join Joel Leak, Master Gardener at UMaine Cooperative Extension, as he teaches you how to grow berries (including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes and blueberries). Learn about site selection, varieties, planting, pollination, insect pests, diseases and pruning.

Check out this mouth-watering menu: Loco Moco (classic Hawaiian soul food), Salmon and Avocado Poke (a dish of ripe avocado and smoked wild salmon), Huli Huli Chicken over Hawaiian Luau Rice (sweet and sour glazed chicen with island seasonings), and Guri Guri (three-ingredient Hawaiian ice cream)!
